Wow! I am so excited about our next fun-filled meetup! Mark your calendars for Oct 7, 2011 at 6:30 pm for the next International Orange County VO Peeps meetup! That's right - International - you heard me correctly!
With that being said, I am excited to announce our very special guest speaker for this meetup - UK Voiceover Talent extraordinaire, Natalie Cooper! Natalie will be to travelling LA for the That's Voiceover event and we are so incredibly lucky that she has agreed to take time out of her trip to the States to speak with us! I'd like to extend a special thank you to Natalie in advance for sharing her time so graciously with us - we are incredibly fortunate to have her!
What's that? You don't live in Orange County? Can't make the meetup? No worries! We will be broadcasting LIVE from the party on our Ustream channel for those of you unable to attend. You won't want to miss all the fun - I have lots of exciting news to share with the group as well!
Let's take a more in depth look at Natalie's history and career:
I'm a British voiceover artist, based in the UK, and I'm fortunate enough to live in a beautiful village, just 20 mins from Stonehenge. When I'm not voicing, I'm chasing chickens, herding children and baking cakes :-)
I've been working as a voiceover for 12 years, and have spent the last 2 years working full-time.
After completing my degree in Media Studies (Broadcast Journalism), I began working for BBC radio, before finding my voice and moving to BBC TV Continuity. A stint as a Traffic and Travel presenter for a rolling news station in London proved to be enormous fun, the thrills and spills of live bulletins every 10 minutes, but it was meeting my amazing mentor (Patrick Lunt - goggle him! and swoon at his wonderful voice) that got me established as a voiceover.
I work mainly from my isdn-equipped home studio, voicing radio imaging and commercials, tv ads, on-hold messaging, corporate videos and more, and with London 2 hours away, I also travel up for tv promo sessions with Sky, and to voice the occasional (and very welcome) tv ad.
I work with clients all over the world, and recent clients include an isdn session for Vodafone via my US agent, and Marriott Hotels and Infiniti cars for studios in New York.
In the UK, I'm currently station voice for the UKRD Group of 14 commercial radio stations, the on-hold voice for theme park Alton Towers, and the newest promo voice for Sky Living TV.
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be able to earn my money this way. My very BBC lecturer at university warned me that I should never become "a gob on a stick", I can't imagine a more fun and rewarding way to earn my living.

Best Wishes and Much Success,
Anne
